Munkebo Floor Recovery Systems
How Do Floor Recovery Systems Work?
THE PROCESS: Floor recovery systems in abrasive blast rooms are designed to collect and recycle abrasive media after it falls to the floor during blasting. As blasting occurs, spent abrasive and debris drop onto the floor surface and are directed toward the recovery system through either a combination of, or solely; mechanical transportion, vacuum or manually.
Depending on the design, the floor may use belt conveyors or a full floor scraping system beneath grating or solid panels. These components move the abrasive from the floor to a central recovery hopper. Once collected, the material is elevated with vacuum or a bucket elevator and passes through separation equipment that removes dust, fines, and debris from reusable abrasive.
Clean abrasive is then returned to a storage hopper or blast pot for reuse, while waste material is discharged for disposal. By automating media collection and recycling, floor recovery systems reduce manual cleanup, improve productivity, and support consistent blasting performance.
Bucket Elevator
-
For some fixed applications the bucket elevator can be a more cost effective solution to elevate large volumes of media from a fixed point to another fixed point.
The power consumption are minimal compared to perfomance.
Our MB-BE Bucket elevators are usually connected to a floor hopper that serves as a central media collection point from where it elevates the media up to the storage and cleaning units.
Belt Conveyor
-
Our belt conveyors are designed for partial floor recovery of spent media to a central collection point and ensures automatic, continuous collection.
It works by manually recovering spent media from the floor to the belt conveyors or in some cases in combination with a scraper floor system.Technical features
A belt is running underneath a series of floor hoppers along the full length of the conveyor system.
The floor hoppers have automatic level sensors so it is posibble to collect a big pile of spent media on top, without overfilling and jamming the belt conveyor. The system requires an absolute minimum of civil work and can be easily installed in existing facilities.Proven feasability
The Munkebo belt conveyors system has proven to be a cost-competitive solution with very low maintenance requirements and reliable operation over decades.
Scraper Floor System
-
Our scraper floor system is designed for partial or full floor recovery of spent media and ensures automatic, continuous collection. The system requires an absolute minimum of civil work and can be easily installed in existing facilities.
The Munkebo scraper floor system has proven to be a cost-competitive solution with very low maintenance requirements and reliable operation over decades.
ACU Cleaning module
-
The ever increasing disposal costs for expendable abrasive favour more than ever the use of reusable blasting media combined with equipment that can effectively remove all types of impurities, fines and dust before reuse.
The use of this type of equipment means not only reduction of disposal costs, but also a reduction in abrasive media costs, not to mention the environmental benefits.
MB-ACU-2
The Munkebo multiple type abrasive cleaning units have been designed and built to clean the various reusable abrasive types in the market.
The standard Munkebo cleaning unit is a high production unit with a capacity of up to 30 tonnes/hour total throughput, producing high quality reusable abrasive through a system of screening and air wash separation.
Although the unit is suitable for all known reusable abrasives, it is easy to operate. It features manually adjustable controls for recovery rate and ventilation air flow for the air wash system, to determine the throughput and degree of cleaning/extraction required.
Once adjusted to the actual type of abrasive the system requires minimal attention and maintenance.
All coarse contaminations such as broken glass, welding rods, rust and paint flakes etc. as well as all fines are removed together with the dust, leaving well cleaned abrasive media for reuse. The Munkebo multiple type abrasive cleaning units are ideal for all operations where the abrasive media can be recovered after blasting. The exception is wet material, which cannot be processed.
The cleaning unit requires a ventilation airflow, which either can be taken from the room ventilation or ideally from a separate dust collector, designed for this application, as the dust load can be excessive.
